Taylor Goll picked off a Dylan Brown pass with 2 minutes to go in the game that led to a Connor Sharp 1 yard quarterback sneak that gave the Necks a 23-20 comeback win over their rival Spring Hill. The game started with the Panthers marching 67 yards for a touchdown as QB Dylan Brown scampered the final 14 yards for the score and a 7-0 lead. Junior Hamilton wasted little time in putting the Roughnecks on the scoreboard with a 54 yard run. The PAT was no good and Spring Hill led 7-6. Connor Sharp kicked a 23 yard field goal just before halftime to give White Oak a 9-7 lead. In the 2nd half Jackson McCurdy broke loose for a 57 yard run to the one yard line and then scored on the next play to expand the Roughneck lead to 16-7 after the PAT. Spring Hill responded with a touchdown to make the score 16-14 late in the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter after a deep drive into Panther territory, the Panthers recovered a fumble and returned it 67 yards to set up a touchdown that gave Spring Hill the lead 20-16 with 9:11 in the fourth quarter. The Roughnecks began to drive down the field when they were stopped on fourth and one at the Spring Hill 23. With only 4:56 remaining, Spring Hill looked prepared to run out the clock for the victory. But after a Panther ran out of bounds on 2nd down stopping the clock, QB Brown went to the air and Mr. Stretch (Taylor Goll) intercepted the pass and returned it 22 yards to the Spring Hill 46 yardline to set up the winning the score.

Getting into shape
Football Practice officially kicked off this morning at 7:30. Server eager players ready to get started should up early, but their smiles were eventually erased after the traditional 12 minute (mile run). The Roughnecks are coming off an 8-3 season that featured three 1,000 yard rushers in Jackson McCurdy, Junior Hamilton, and Orlando Humble. Humble who gained 1,458 yards and scored 24 touchdowns last year, has since graduated and recently played in the THSCA All-Star Football game, so the Roughnecks will have some rather large shoes (literally) to fill, in order to replace him.

Heading off the practice field after the first day.
